*It was TJ Ford, with a career stat line tonight in Indiana, getting the victory over the Thunder. TJ had 24 points on 10 of 19 shots, including both 3’s he attempted, and 2 for 2 from the line. Add to that 10 Assists, 7 Rebounds, 2 Steals and a Block, while only finishing with two turnovers. He carried the team, also making some key buckets at the end to seal the deal.
*Jermaine O'Neal, the other end fo the TJ Ford trade, faced off against the Celtics tonight in Toronto. While the Raptors looked like the better team most of the game, the Celtics turned it up a notch, and stole the win. JO had 23 points, 11 boards, and 5 dimes in this losing effort, but it was nice to see JO putting up numbers of old. KG really shut down Chris Bosh, holding him to 9 points on 3-8 shooting. Talk about good D, beating good O. Paul Pierce had a quiet 36 points, mostly unloading in the second half (27), to give Boston a 7-1 record, holding down first place in the Atlantic Division.
*Wait a second. 29 points and 19 rebounds from Dwight Howard, and 35 points from Hedo Turkoglu, isn’t enough for a win against the Blazers, minus Greg Oden? Not when you get a total team effort like we got tonight out of the Blazers in Orlando. They did all the little things that make for a win. Steve Blake went 10-11 from the free throw line. Rudy Fernandez came off the bench with four 3-pointers, two in the fourth quarter. LaMarcus Aldridge chipping in with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Roy topping it off with a 27 point performance.
*New Jersey was playing great, even without Devin Harris in the lineup, for almost the entire game against the Heat. Then the 4th quarter came around, and it was D. Wade time. Miami was down 10 mid-way through the 4th, but Wade’s outburst of 19 4th quarter points got them the win (on 6-7 shooting including three from deep). Despite a career night from Yi Jianlian (27 points, 10 boards), the Nets couldn’t stop wade who was in rare form, nailing four from downtown overall.
He scored eight straight points in a 79-second span, starting with a 3-pointer that banked in off the glass and left him shaking his head in disbelief. A pair of free throws and another 3-pointer—this one swished— later, and the Heat were at 85-84 with 3:09 remaining. - TIM REYNOLDS, AP Sports Writer
*In Phoenix , the Suns took on the Grizzlies, fresh off of a super hot Mayo performance on Sunday night (31 points). Through the first quarter, it was 19-19. The second, it was 25-25. Mayo done did it again, scoring a game high 33 points this time, 19 of which came in the fourth quarter (!), adding to his consideration for Rookie of the Year. He almost nailed a 3 to tie the game with a few seconds left, but his hot hand went cold. The Suns can thank Barbosa for the win tonight, as he got 27 points off the bench, on 10-13 shooting, on a night when Shaq (foul trouble all game) and Nash (3-11 Sooting) weren’t at their best.
